Ignorance is in the mind of the beholder.

A friend asked me about my my intent on word press and asked if I was passionate or angry. He asked if I was trying push dialogue or diatribe.

Well I thought long and hard about that question.
I try to get along with everyone. But I have a right to express my opinion and others have their right to ignore me. They don’t have the right however to insult me or insult my integrity or my intelligence simply because I make a statement of how I feel about something. So I guess some of my comments may appear to be diatribe to some but they aren’t meant to be insulting like some. I believe that I am called to know the difference between right and wrong. As citizens of America through the words of Thomas Jefferson in the words of the Declaration of Independance against the tyranny of the King of England, we are called to stand up against tyranny and misuse of power when we see it. We also have the right to speak our mind under the US Constitution.
I fully support those who disagree with me. I do not however support their right to insult me or be abusive in their language towards myself or others. There comes a time where one must stand on his principles and speak his mind.
so having expressed that caveat, here is an opinion editorial addressed to a young woman from Canada.
When did it become law of the land that only progressives and liberals are the only intelligent people in the world.
When did it become common knowledge that Christian fundamentalists are ignorant fascists and don’t deserve to speak our mind and when we do that we should be shunned and insulted?
When did arrogance, and slinging insults at those of us who don’t fall into line with the left take over decency and working together?
Oh we’ll work with you until it becomes apparent that you don’t agree with us then we’ll throw all the mud and crap your way that we can.
And I’m called the ignorant one?
What a sad commentary on the United States and Canada in particular.
And since when does the forcing of two socialist policies by socialist politicians on the civilian population something that they didn’t want 70 years ago, or now, constitute that nation becoming Socialist?
And I’m called the ignorant one?
That would be like saying that all the people of Germany were Jew hating Nazis or all of Russian were in favor of Communism.
That would be like saying that Canada is a slave state to England and not free because they never had enough guts to stand up against an oppressive King like America did in 1776. That would be like saying Canadians are a bunch of gutless cowards because their politicians have never really stood up for anything and have always just done what the British crown told them to do even today Canada doesn’t do anything for it’s Allies or neighbors, just sucks off countries that are more successful and harder working. One could even say that if it wasn’t for it’s neighbor America to the south Canada wouldn’t have half what they do today.
But I have too many friends in Canada to ever say such a thing. Unfortunately there are some from Canada who apparently lack the class and tact to offer the same hand across the border to Americans.
And I’m the ignorant one?
Since when did it become ignorant or wrong to speak one’s mind in America or anywhere else. We are all about diversity and peace and harmony, unless its one of them there ignorant, stupid, fascist, fundamentalist Christians. Then let’s throw all the insults we can think of at them.

    Hey dude,
I am sorry to see that you are having troubles with certain others out across blogerville. I tried to throw in a little for you today, @ the fourm, but, apparently, I also have been blocked. Must have been the ( Oprahdoxed Religion ) post that I dug out from writing last year, and sticky-ed front page for a few days.

Hey, and I do apologize for posting the way I did last week, I was wrong, and I ask for your forgiveness, and hope to continue a great blogging relationship.

I know where you are coming from, and to answer one of the questions that you are asking here, at least, to give my opinion on it:
When did it become law of the land that only progressives and liberals are the only intelligent people in the world? And…

( When did it become common knowledge that Christian fundamentalists are ignorant fascists and don’t deserve to speak our mind and when we do that we should be shunned and insulted? )

According to the Bible, the parts that those who pretend to know what the Love of Jesus really is, but, even though it’s the Revelation of Jesus Christ, seem to not want to hear about, because the end times are spoken of, is where I believe, as I am sure you well know, is where it becomes the norm…and even law before long.

I wrote another entry around a year ago called, Apostasy Now…Which, if I recall speaks a lot about this very time…Hey, God Bless you brother, and I am sorry that I offended you. Keep up the great work.

    • yeah and to top everything off i’m actually depending on liberals to get the unemployment extension act passed because my unemployment ran out Wednesday AM.

I might not even be able to afford to get to school.
and I have to put up with people like that.

oh by the way, did you notice the nice place of honor I gave your blog – on my “writers” links.
      wooooow 🙂

Oh yes, I do see that …I appreciate it too…
You’re on my blogroll also. Keep em rolling…

  3. “They don’t have the right however to insult me or insult my integrity or my intelligence simply because I make a statement of how I feel about something.”

I have noticed that most of your posts have shown that you strongly support freedom of speech. Freedom of speech does include having the right to voice your opinion even when it is disagreement or discontent. Insults are relative. A person may be offended easily. People are insulted by trivial things such as eye rolling or yawning. Come on. If you completely support freedom of speech, you support others disagreement or insults. So I guess they do have a right. That is life. Get over it.

    • Breanacarrier,
      Thank you for the comments.
You’re never too old to learn. I have learned something because of your comments.

Yes of course you are right. I do support their right to say it. I have family members who fought during WW II and Korea and Vietnam to protect those rights.
If I were to take away their rights to sling their childish insults at me, then where would it stop?

However, the thing that irritates me is when people in general say things like that about me, and I hit them between the eyes with the truth about themselves, they call me a fascist and a hate monger, a bigot and a hypocrite because I simply speak my mind. It would be nice if the same open minded 1st ammendment principles that I strive to practice, (though I’m humble enough to admit that I’m not usuallyalways successful). It’s the double standard that irritates me. It’s the whole “be open minded” “show tolerance” unless it’s a Christian then nail ’em to the wall. that irritates me. The snide remarks like somehow they are better than me. I suppose it’s a certain immaturity factor that I need to work on I guess.

Once again Brean thank you for your words of wisdom.
      Brad
